We have seen many Samsung phones until this point of time and one thing common in almost every model is its elegance and quality. Samsung has maintained those in Galaxy Note 20 Ultra too. If you are looking for a complete phone with quality in every department and ready to splash money, then Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra would be the right fit for you. It will not surprise us if this phone put you in the state of awe. With a state-of-the-art 108MP camera, high-performing Exynos 990 chipset, Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, easy-to-use S-Pen and many other noteworthy features, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is one hell of a phone which compete against the likes of iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone XS Max and One Plus 8 Pro. In short, it's a luxury phone. But does it worth this much money? Let's see that!
The design of Galaxy Note 20 Ultra can easily evoke interest in the people. So, we won't blame you if you go for this phone just because of its elegant design. Like the typical Note series, Note 20 Ultra also is big in size but the curved sides make the phone comfortable to use. However, it'll be troublesome to use the phone by one hand. Adding to that, the phone is a bit heavy at 208g which is quite obvious for a phone of note series. The phone has sharp edges and curvy sides, as mentioned earlier, coupled with a glossy metal frame that surrounds the top and side part of the phone. At the top centre of the screen, there is a punch-hole selfie camera. Another vital feature is the protection at the front and back. Both the sides are shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus which is the toughest glass available at the moment. It provides better scratch resistance and protection from falls than the older Gorilla glasses. For a phone this much big, this protection is much needed and Samsung has brilliantly done the job of equipping it with Victus. Coming to the rear part, the panel is given matt finish enabling the side frame to glisten which altogether is giving the phone a classy look. Moreover, the back is not slippery which is good for a big phone like Note 20 Ultra. On the top left, the triple camera is placed on a rectangular module which is protruding intimidatingly. Also, Samsung has protected the camera lens with Gorilla Glass 6, unlike the rear part. The ring of the camera module is also given the same colour of the side frame and that too is highlighted, thanks to the matt finish at the back. Coming to the buttons and slot placements, you get the power and volume buttons on the left side of the phone and Samsung has placed the sim tray on the top of the phone. At the bottom, there is a charging slot, speaker grill and the pocket for the S-Pen. Note 20 Ultra also boasts IP68 rated water and, dust resistance.
Note 20 Ultra sports a massive 6.9 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display which offers QHD+ resolution of 1440x3088. It also supports HDR10+ and has a maximum refresh rate of 120Hz. You can't set the screen to 120Hz, however, you can set it to 60Hz or 'Adaptive' option which makes the refresh rate dynamic. This means, the refresh rate goes up to a maximum 120Hz and comes down to even 30Hz and 10Hz with accordance to your usage. That is, if the screen is static the refresh rate will come down and when you scroll through the menu or use any other feature that requires faster screen transition then the rate goes up. This altogether helps in preserving the battery. Apart from that, the screen also delivers vibrant colours, sharpness and, good viewing angles.
With Note 20 Ultra, you won't even face the slightest lag or stutter in your daily usage. It sports 2.4GHz octa-core Samsung Exynos 990 processor which makes the phone fast and responsive even when the display is set to 60Hz. The S-Pen also works fastly and its handwriting recognition stands out. Talking about screen unlocking, the fingerprint sensor and face recognition works quickly. The powerful 12GB RAM also does a good job in enabling multitasking and loading the applications quickly. Gaming at excellent fps and graphics is also possible with Note 20 Ultra. Moreover, the phone doesn't have any notable heating issues. The speaker does a commendable job in delivering loud and crisp making the videos, games and, songs much more immersive. In short, the overall performance of Note 20 Ultra is top-notch.
From the large bump of the camera module, we can guess that the camera holds something huge. And yes, it does. Note 20 Ultra boasts a gargantuan 108MP main camera which features PDAF and optical image stabilisation and has an f/1.8 aperture. This lens is accompanied by a 12MP wide-angle camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 12MP optical zoom camera with an aperture of f/3.0. There is also a laser autofocus sensor. The camera is quite capable of taking crisp and clear pictures in the daytime and it even manages to capture distant objects with excellent detailing. Note 20 Ultra is also quick to focus and delivers punchy colours.
Coming to close up photos, the camera delivers photos with great depth and colours. Same is the case with the wide-angle camera and it also covers considerable angles. The phone also features an impressive zooming option which Samsung terms as "Space Zoom" with which you can zoom up to 50x. Of course, the clarity drops at maximum zoom but it has decent detailing. The night photography isn't actually great but the night mode takes the quality to a great level by adding colour and sharpness to the images. Also, night mode is available in all three lenses.
Coming to the video quality, you can shoot up to 8K in Note 20 Ultra. The video is captured smoothly at 1080p but when it comes to 4K quality you may find a tad shimmering. However, you can tackle it with the Super Steady option that leverages the wide-angle camera to compensate the jitter. You also get the option to switch the cameras when shooting at 1080p and you could also zoom up to 20x. Adding to that, the camera comes with various features including Slow Motion and Super Slow-Mo. The main camera also manages to shoot videos with excellent quality at night. Coming to the selfie camera, it is as good as the rear camera with the ability to take excellent selfies with great detailing and colours during both day and night. Long story short, the camera stands out and worth the money.
The battery might sound silly when you have a glance at the specifications and see '4500mAh'. However, the battery is incredibly powerful and is one of the best components of Note 20 Ultra. With one charge, you can easily get enough fuel to use the phone for one and a half day. Even with frequent S-Pen usage, camera usage and, not-so-hard gaming, you can get one day of charge.
