What to Consider When Buying a DSLR Camera?

There are many factors and features that you must consider before choosing a DSLR camera. This may be daunting for a beginner to choose the best. Today with a heavy competition in the market, DSLR cameras are available at prices starting from 25000 and above making them affordable and accessible more so than ever.    Lenses: Lenses are the first and foremost important factor to consider while buying a DSLR camera. They are the first baby and a lifetime investment of a photographer. DSLR cameras are often equipped with a camera body and basic lens that can be upgraded as you may wish. The best feature of DSLR cameras is that they come with a detachable lense system. Lenses offer you the quality in a picture as you desire. Choosing a lens that offers you high resolution and a good zooming length without breaking the picture quality is the best if you want a crisp and detailed picture.  Sensor Size: Have you ever noticed a photographer being very cautious while cleaning the lenses so as to not to damage the sensor? Well sensors are the most important part of a camera that  receives incident light which is then focused through a lens or other optics to get that perfect picture. A lot of people invest in megapixels over good sensors and end up with unsatisfied pictures. But if you are reading this article, you know what to look for while buying a DSLR camera for yourself. There are two main choices of image sensor available currently namely APS-C or full frame. Depending on your use and requirement you may choose cameras with either APS-C sensor size or full frame. While APS-C sensors offer you the effect of shooting with a longer lens, full frame sensors are often preferred by professionals and are quite costly and heavy.  Image quality: Although sensors are the key to a high image quality, megapixels or the pixel range of your camera lens reduces the grainy appearance of images while zooming. The rule is the same, higher the megapixel greater the resolution and hence the quality of the image captured. Another feature that adds up to the quality of an image is the ISO level or exposure.  Along with the above three factors there are several other features that add on to producing an enhanced picture. Compare and analyse the different models available to suit your requirements.    Did you find this article useful?

TV TYPES: BUYER'S GUIDE
22/02/2021

With a lot of TV types in the market now, buying a TV is quite a dilemma. The various names of television types available would sound like jargon to the common people. But before buying a TV for your home, it is necessary that you know what you need and what you will have to choose from.

So, today, we are going to be talking about TV types. We have made a short guide on various types of TV based on their technical aspects so that choosing a TV becomes hassle-free for you. In this article, we will break down the acronyms referring to each type of TV and explain what it means and how it is different from the rest.

So, let’s begin from the beginning with CRT TVs.

CRT TV

CRT or Cathode Ray Tube is nothing but that classic old chunky television set that has graced most of your houses for years before the sleek designs were born. A CRT TV has a boxy design with the screen and projector gun fit inside it. The process is pretty vintage. To create an image, electrons are fired through the projector gun onto a screen. Particles on the screen are excited and form the images. However, you might not find these TV types in the market anymore. Also, Read: HDR vs UHD - Which is Better?

LCD TV

Short for Liquid Crystal Display, LCD TVs have sleek designs with thin displays. They are very commonly found in laptops and in TV screens as well. In an LCD, there is a special flat panel that either blocks light or allows it through. Liquid crystals fill each block that makes up the segments of the panel. The adjustment of electrical current can control the colour and transparency of the LCD panel’s blocks. In LCD TV types, an external source of light is necessary to produce images as LCD are not luminant on their own.

Plasma TV

Plasma TVs have an interesting build. Ir consists of two glass sheets holding a mixture of gases in between them. They are called Plasma TVs because the gases in between the screens are stored in plasma form at the time of manufacturing. Upon supplying electricity, the gases react and light up in the pixels.

When it comes to display effects like contrast and colour, Plasma TVs are far more superior than LCD and LED TVs. But the cost is high cp,  compared to other TV types and it is mostly preferred for large screens for which it is relatively affordable.

LED TV

LED or Light Emitting Diodes is an upgrade of the older LCD screens. So, it is not exactly a new TV type. The technology used is the same except for the lighting. In LED TVs, there are light-emitting diodes that light up the screen unlike the fluorescent bulb in LCD TVs. This makes LED TVs narrower than LCD screens. LED TVs may be either Direct-Lit or Edge-Lit, depending on where the array of LEDs are arranged.

Right now, LED TVs are the most popular and in trend as they are cost-effective, versatile and compact. However, the image quality in LEDs is not the best available.

OLED TV

A huge advancement in screen technology, OLED TVs are the latest. They are, however, not like LED TVs.

The acronym for ‘Organic Light Emitting Diode’, OLED TVs produce light from ‘organic’ sources like carbon upon giving direct current. OLED screens don’t need a backlight to light up like the LED/LCD TVs do. This makes OLED TVs extremely thin, compact and flexible in design. The display quality is also far greater than the LED and LCD TV types.

Although OLED TVs are sleeker, faster and display crisper images, they are more expensive than the other TV types like LCD and LED.

So, we hope we have helped to overview the main TV types for you. Now that you know what kind of TV you wish to buy, you have to start on specifics like the preferred size and various types of TV brands and the available options in the market.

How long are you going to spend watching TV a day? Which TV type suits your home or office space best? Are you considering investing in a smart TV with all the digital entertainment streaming in?

WHAT TO LOOK FOR WHEN BUYING A TABLET
15/02/2021

The tablet was born to make life easier, get work done smoother and make entertainment accessible on the go. It joins the walls between laptops and smartphones seamlessly. So if you are considering investing in a tablet, you certainly want to know what to look for when buying a tablet.

Chances are you have asked yourself the question, “Should I buy a tablet online?” several times already that you know you have to get one soon. But before you do, here’s a checklist that you should go through, whether you are buying a used tablet or getting yourself a new one.

Tablet Features and Benefits

The main features of a tablet are akin to a smartphone and in some cases a laptop, too. So, your choice should depend on what you are using the tablet for. So here we go!

Size

Inarguably the first feature to decide on, the size and weight have to be chosen according to the usage time. You would want to go for a travel-friendly size if you would carry it around a lot.

A tablet is a boon for those who don’t want to throw open the laptop everytime they want to pick up reading or browsing from where they left off on their phone. But it also means you will hold it for longer time periods and that calls for a lighter tablet.

Display Features

The display being the most conspicuous part of a tablet, it’s imperative that the size of display, screen resolution, brightness, viewing angle and coating are prioritized when considering what to look for when buying a tablet. Display size mostly decides the size of the tablet but if you will be reading a lot, the resolution decides the ease of reading text on it. Resolution is also important if watching media is a major use.

Brightness requirement depends on whether you will spend more time with it indoors or outdoors. Optimal viewing angles matter if the tablet will have multiple viewers at a time. Also look for durable coating that is easy to clean and doesn’t show scratches starkly.

Operating System

The software built in the tablet decides how it runs. Tablets have more than one OS to choose from. The most popular may be Android or iOS, but there are also Microsoft Windows and Amazon Fire OS

If you want a versatile and multitasking platform, Android OS is the best. But if you are looking to work on it like using a PC, MS Windows would be your best fit. For media and gaming, iOS runs best although iPads are not very budget-friendly here. The type and number of applications available for each OS should also be checked while ticking off what to look for when buying a tablet.

Connectivity

As a mobile device, the connectivity of a tablet is an inevitable factor in choosing a tablet. Tablets come with WiFi as well as cellular connectivity. Some tablets support only WiFi connectivity and it is enough if you have access to a WiFi network at all times. But if you may not have that, you might want to consider cellular connectivity and whether the device supports 3G, 4G or 5G.

Battery

Different applications can use up different amounts of battery and this is a specification that is hard to fix on. Aim for a high battery life if your use is going to be more media watching and gaming than reading and web browsing. A minimum of eight hours battery life in either is a good parameter under the checklist of what to look for when buying a tablet.

Storage

Compared to a laptop, the storage space in tablets is usually limited. Most tablets come with upto 64GB space. This storage is not an issue if you use the tablet only for web browsing, reading etc. But it is a critical factor if you will be storing HD videos and games on your tablet.

Processors

It is not enough to know the number of cores in the processor. The chipset used and its architecture has a great impact on the performance, battery life and even the size of the tablet. Research more about processors before you go ahead with a model.

If your usage is going to be minimal, the market has a good assortment of used tablets as well, which are good options if you are on a budget. What to check when buying a used tablet pretty much can use the same checklist for what to look for when buying a tablet.

So, what would you like to use a tablet for? What are your main requirements? Have you shortlisted some choices yet?

SMART TIPS ON HOW TO REDUCE AC BILL
11/02/2021

The world in the year 2020 shook for two reasons. One, the outbreak of coronavirus, and the second would be the huge electricity bill that was bombed in every household. If lockdown or work from home has taught us anything other than being hygienic, then it would be on the importance of energy and electricity.

With the summers just around the corner, ‘How to reduce AC bill’ is the most common question asked. Adding to this is the continuing saga of remote working. ‘Save energy’ would be the second common slogan after ‘Stay home. Stay safe and Maintain social distance’.    2021 is here and the virus is still out there. Which makes this summer more indoors than outdoor, that implies more use of AC! If you are wondering ‘Do air conditioners use a lot of electricity?’ then our answer would be a yes and no. Consumptions of electricity depend on the type of AC you use. Are you curious to know ‘Does AC fan speed affect electricity consumption?’ Yes? Follow this blog to learn more.     We have listed out smart tips on how to reduce the AC bill to save you from the huge electricity bill this summer. Cut down your energy costs by following these simple tips on ‘How to reduce the electricity consumption of the air conditioner?

How to Reduce AC Bill

With concerns of increased energy consumption by AC’s, there are a lot of newer energy-saving models that tend to use less electricity and never compromise on their working. Choosing a 5-star annual energy consumption rating would be our first choice of recommendation.

How to Reduce Electricity Consumption of Air Conditioner?

If you already have an AC installed, using these tricks and tips will help you reduce energy or electricity consumption.

Keep the AC Vent Open and Clean: Vents are installed with air filters that help in keeping the dirt and dust away. With time the filters may get filled up preventing airflow and hence affecting the functionality of the AC. It is advisable to clean the AC vent once in three months regularly to keep up the good functioning of the AC. Closing of AC vent might also prevent them from keeping your room cool and hence increase the use of energy.

Install and Upgrade to a Smart Thermostat: Upgrading your house with a smart thermostat will largely help you in reducing about 10% of your heating and cooling costs throughout the year especially in summers. With a smart thermostat system installed you can regulate your cooling system from time to time and also adjust the settings via your phone from anywhere. A smart thermostat also helps you in stabilizing the room temperature.

Keep the Doors, Windows Closed, and Insulated: Always and always keep the doors and windows closed to trap the cooling effect for a longer time. Insulating your house is also another way by which you can ensure that the cool air doesn't escape and gets absorbed by the walls quickly.

Using a Ceiling Fan: There is a misconception that using a ceiling fan along with an AC reduces its effect. We might be different here. Ceiling fans effectively circulate the air throughout the room and promote healthy circulation. Once the room is cool enough you may switch off the AC without compromising on comfort.

Add Shades to your Windows: Often rooms get heated up during the day due to the direct sunlight from the windows. One way to prevent the daylight from heating your house is by adding a shade tint to your windows. This helps in reducing the heating up of the rooms and in keeping the house cool throughout the day and night.

Do Air Conditioners Use a Lot of Electricity?

The lower the degree of temperature, the more energy conservation. Maintaining a higher temperature would lessen the time taken by the compressor to attain the desired room temperature and hence reduces power consumption. Research says that each degree of increase in AC temperature can help you save about 3-5% of electricity. However, the usage of electricity also depends on the star rating of your AC model.    This is our compilation of tips on How to reduce AC bill. What are the other tips you can share with us on How to reduce AC bill?   To buy AC online and explore the different AC product range available, visit myG Digital, the best and authorized electronics supplier store.

MOBILE SHOPPING TRENDS: TOP MUST-KNOWS FOR CUSTOMERS
09/02/2021

Smartphones are evolving every other day and mobile shopping trends have changed at a rapid pace. The year 2020 had a lot happening and not happening at the same time. But what has undeniably hiked was the demand for gadgets with more features and higher specifications. Not to mention the boom of online mobile shopping.

With a lot of options in smartphones coming out every month or sooner, it is essential that you be literate about gadgets and their features. You have to clearly know what you need and what feature or spec to look for in order to meet that requirement. It is also important to know the alternatives to certain features so that you do not need to compromise on your needs.

Here are some mobile shopping trends that you can be sure of being carried from 2020 to 2021. Research mobile buying guides online before you look for the best mobile phone offers.

1. Increasing refresh-rate in screens

Last year witnessed a trend of high refresh-rate screens in smartphones. Until OnePlus brought out a game-changing refresh-rate with its OnePlus 7 series in 2019, high refresh-rate screens were pretty much confined to some gaming phones. The popular brands have come up with 120 Hz display phones already. A high refresh rate improves the user experience to a whole new level with smoother and crisper image quality.

Considering the time you spend with your smartphone for various purposes from work to entertainment, it is only fair to invest in a smartphone having a high-refresh-rate display. Samsung, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Realme lead the 120Hz display pack.

Models to eye for 120Hz refresh rate screens are:

  • S20 series, Note20 Ultra and Z Fold2 from Samsung Galaxy
  • Mi 10i and Mi 10T series
  • POCO X2 and X3
  • OnePlus 8T and 8 Pro
  • Realme X3 series
  • ASUS ROG Phone 3

2. Fast Charging

The high refresh-rate phones call for the power of a bulky battery which is quite inconvenient considering how sleekness is the most sought-after design feature, not just in mobile shopping trends but in almost all electronics and gadgets. The alternative you have is to choose a superfast charging smartphone. Many 2021 models from Samsung Galaxy, Xiaomi, Realme, OPPO etc support fast charging.

3. More Number of Rear Camera Lenses

Another trend getting more popular is the number of rear camera lenses. Quad rear camera phones have already been around for some time now. With the increasing number of rear lenses comes different types of sensors and with their possibilities, mobile phone photography is getting more professional by the day.

4. High-Resolution Camera Phones

Equally trending are high-resolution camera phones with a norm of 108MP currently. This year, you can also expect smartphones with camera resolutions as high as 200MP. Samsung is said to be working on one of those already, hoping to make 200MP cameras the new norm for smartphones.

Smartphones with enhanced camera specifications is an obvious mobile shopping trend, especially among shutterbugs for convenience and among laymen who are not that into DSLR, yet want to capture quality photographs.

5. The Futuristic Foldable Screen

In 2019, Samsung launched its first foldable screen smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. Ever since, mobile shopping trends have included foldable screens as a feature. The best thing about it is how a bigger screen size can be compact and travel-friendly. Smartphone lovers are going to be quite keen on this model in future considering how much time is spent on a smartphone browsing, reading, gaming and even watching movies these days.

So are you looking for the best offers on mobile phones to invest in a better one this year? Do you want to know more about the best smartphones in the market right now?

Or have you found out the best mobile phone that suits your needs already and have been wondering where to buy smartphones online? You have come to the right place. Explore our online store now for amazing offers on the latest smartphones!
